Together they had undertaken several successful operations against the mizro rebels and figured high on their ‘hit-list’. They were attacked by the rebels in a surprise raid on 13-1-1975 while they were in a meeting. All of them died fighting on the spot.</p>

  • <div >A S Atwal</div><p>Sh.A.S.Atwal (IPS 1964;Punjab cadre) was posted as DIG, Jallandhar Range in 1983. An expert in intelligence-based operations, he figured high on the ‘hit-list’ of the terrorists. He was shot at by a terrorist while coming out of the golden temple on 25-4-83. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.</p>

  • <div >V K Mehta</div><p>Sh.V.K.Mehta (IPS 1971; West Bengal cadre) was posted as deputy commissioner of police, port division, calcutta, when disturbances broke out in the area near garden reach police station. In a bid to disperse the mob and control the situation Sh. Mehta rushed to the spot. During the course of action he along with his security guard became isolated from the rest of the police party and were mobbed by the criminals. They both died fighting valiantly.</p>

  • <div >A S Brar</div><p>Sh.A.S. Brar(IPS 1979; Punjab cadre) and Sh.K.R.S. Gill (IPS 1982; Punjab cadre) were posted as SSP and Addl. SP Patiala respectively. Both were highly motivated officers who had led several successful operations against the terrorists. In the Early morning of 14-12-87, they had gone for jogging to NIS Patiala where they were attacked by the terrorists in a surprise raid. Badly outnumbered, they went down fighting bravely. He was awarded posthumously.</p>

  • <div >SITAL DAS</div><p>Sh. Sital Das (IPS 1976; Punjab cadre) as SSP Patiala discovered links between his ASI and the terrorists during the course of his investigation. On Hearing about this impending arrest, the ASI fired from his service revolver at Shri Das. Despite being badly wounded in the chest, Shri Das fought back bravely and managed to kill the ASI but himself succumbed to his injuries later.</p>

  • <div >Vandana Malik</div><p>Ms. Vandana Malik (IPS 1987 batch; Manipur/Tripura cadre) was a much admired officer even during her probation days at the academy. She was posted as ASP (under training ) at Lamshang Police Station, Manipur , where she was required to supervise the security arrangements for the HSLC Examinations as part of her duty. On 8-4-1989, while returning from one such exercise she was ambushed by the extremists. She died fighting bravely.</p>

  • <div >DAULAT SINGH</div><p>Sh. Daulat Singh Negi (IPS 1979; Assam.meghalaya cadre) was poted as S.P. Dibrugarh. He was a very dynamic officer who figgured high on the insurgents ‘hit-list’. On that fateful day he had gone to conduct a raid acting on an intelligence ‘tip-off’. On his way back he was ambushed by the insurgents. He died fighting bravely.</p>

  • <div >R P Varma</div><p>Sh. R.P.Verma (IPS 1974; Bihar cadre) was a dynamic and devoted officer. He was posted as SP, Dhanbad, when he got information about bank dacoit being Conducted. He immediately rushed to the spot and challenged the dacoits. The dacoits opened fire during which he was fatally wounded. He died on the spot on 01-03-1991</p>

  • <div >GOBIND RAM</div><p>Sh. Gobind Ram (IPS 1975; Punjab cadre) had served as SP and SSP in several terrorist affected districts of Punjab. He was responsible for a number of successful operations against them and consequently figured high on their ‘hit-list’. He was killed in a bomb blast on 10-1-91 which rocked his office when he was the commandant, 75th Bn. PAP, Jallandhar.</p>

Vyas (IPS 1974; Andhra Pradesh cadre ) was a dynamic police officer and was responsible for raising the elite force ‘Grey Hounds’ for Carrying out anti-naxal operations in the state. The naxalites both feared as well as hated him for his guts and determination. On 27-1-93, He had gone for a jog to the Lal Bahadur stadium, Hyderabad when the PWG extremists attacked and killed him in a cowardly manner.</p>

  • <div >Ajith Singh</div><p>Sh.Ajith Singh(IPS 1968; Punjab cadre) was am extremely brave and dedicated officer renowned for his bold action against the terrorists. On 8-5-1991, while he was posted as DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, he received information about an encounter in a village in Tarn Taran district. He immediately rushed to the spot. In the ensuring crossfire between the terrorist and the police, he was badly injured but continued fighting. He later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.</p>

  • <div >Pardesi Naidu</div><p>Sh.G.Pardesi Naidu (IPS 1987; Andhra pradesh cadre ), an extremely dynamic officer was responsible for curtailing the activities of the naxalites in several districts of Andhra Pradhesh. On 14-11-1993 while he was posted as SP Mahaboobnagar, he recieved information about naxalites being present in a forest guest house in Somasila. On his way back after conducting the raid at the guest house, his vehicle was blown off by a landmine placed by the naxalites. Sh. Naidu died on the spot.</p>

  • <div >Ved Prakash</div><p>Sh.Ved Prakash (IPS 1989 batch, Nagaland cadre) was posted as S.P. Mokakchung in Nagaland. His strong ant-insurgents operations had made him a prime target of the insurgents. On 26-8-1994 at 3 pm, he was ambushed by the undergrounds of the NSCN(K) while he was returning from office. He died on the spot along two of his bodygaurds and driver.</p>

S.P., Panchmahal District, Godhra, when he was killed in a accidental bullet firing on 05-02-1995 while conduction an operation, arranged for trapping a man-eater panther that had been terrorizing the villagers </p>

Sh. Singh was posted as S.P. Tinsukhia, when he was attacked by the insurgents while on the way to his office. He died fighting bravely.</p>

In his memory several Police Organization and Associates undertake charitable activities in AP.  </p>

  • <div >Ajay Kr Singh</div><p>Shri Ajay Kumar Singh (IPS - 1995; Bihar Cadre), the district superintendent of Police of Lohardagga, was also killed in 2000 in a land mine blast triggered by Naxalites in the forest of Chotanagpur.</p>

He responded to the 26/11/2008 and was killed in action when his vehicle came under fire of terrorist hiding on the road side. He was posthumously decorated with the Ashok Chakra, the highest civilian honor for bravery </p>

  • <div >A M Kamte</div><p>Shri Ashok Kamte (IPS-1989, Maharashtra cadre), a fitness freak and charismatic officer, as Additional Commissioner of Police, Eastern region Mumbai, Shri Ashok Kamte was killed while responding to the call of duty during the Mumbai attack on 26/11/2008. He was posthumously honored with Ashok Chakra, the highest honor for bravery on 26/11/2009.   </p>
