M. Sree Abhinav is an Indian Police Service officer of the 2014 batch who serves as Assistant Director (Outdoor) at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, where he is responsible for designing, planning and delivering all physical and outdoor training to IPS probationers. He also takes sessions on IPC/BNS, Investigation, Attitude and Ethics, Drones and counter drones, Use of AI, and was earlier holding the charge of Assistant Director (Tactics) and the Controller of Examinations, where he was in charge of developing and imparting tactical training modules for IPS probationers and in-service course participants.
Prior to joining SVPNPA, his previous police service was in Salem and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu, where he was Superintendent of Police and was responsible for the overall law and order management of a vast jurisdiction that included several police subdivisions, law-and-order police stations, traffic units, women police stations, special branches, and district crime branches. During his tenure as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East), Chennai City Police, he was instrumental in designing and implementing the integrated e-challan system and in introducing innovative technological traffic enforcement systems. He started his career as the Assistant Superintendent of Police in the Kanniyakumari district, where he dealt with complex law-and-order issues and crime control.
Sree Abhinav is an information technology graduate, who also holds a Master's degree in police management and a postgraduate certificate in artificial intelligence and machine learning from IIIT Hyderabad. He is currently pursuing the Advanced Management Program in Public Policy at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. This is a testament to his interest in the intersection of policing, technology, and public policy. He is the recipient of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Special Duty Medal, the Director NPA’s Insignia and commendation. He is a competitive shooter and has been certified as a Renowned Shooter by the National Rifle Association of India in 2023. He has also won several awards during his training, including the IPS Association’s Sword of Honour for being the Best Outdoor Probationer.
