05-days course on ‘Advances in Forensic Science’ conducted in the Academy from February 10 - 14, 2020. Course Objectives were to discuss recent developments and practices followed at state and Global level in major domains of Forensic Science; to be able to implement best practices for Crime scene management with emphasis on mobile forensic units; to understand and overcome the lapses and challenges faced by IOs and field level Police officers in handling and forwarding materials of evidentiary value; to explore the possibility of utilizing and applying emerging forensic domains to the crime scene investigation with recent Indian case studies; to understand Role of Senior Police officers in implementing scientific methods in challenging domains such as Crime against women and weaker sections of the society, Road traffic accidents, Unidentified/Unclaimed dead bodies, Economic offenses, etc and to be familiar with Importance of Procedural guidelines to be followed while handling and forwarding samples with emphasis on Sexual offenses, Explosions, Narcotics cases and Unnatural deaths.22 Officers attended the Course.
