Dr. Nikhil Gupta is an IPS officer belonging to 1996 batch of Maharashtra Cadre. He has worked as Superintendent of Police in several districts handling crime and law & order. He has worked in some of the most important places in the State of Maharashtra-handling Naxal and Terrorism related issues, communal and sectarian violence and serious crimes. He holds a doctorate in Environmental Engineering and Management Sciences each- apart from qualifications in Law, Public Administration and Environmental Law. He is a Rotary World Peace scholar and completed a Masters Course in Conflict Resolution from the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK. He was decorated with Police Medal in 2012 and the Director General of Police’s insignia in 2009. He is also a recipient of the Webber Seavey Award and the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) Award for innovation and excellence in Policing for his Community Policing and Citizen Centric initiatives. In 2015, he was awarded the first prize in the 1st National Symposium on Excellence in Training organized by the Govt. of India and he was also awarded Director’s Commendation and Insignia in recognition of meritorious work performed in the Academy. He has contributed extensively on Policing and Environmental issues in National and International Journals and presented papers in several conferences of repute. He is a member of the National Pool of trainers on Leadership under a Govt. of India and UNDP initiative. He is a certified trainer in the Basic leadership skills and the Mezzanine leadership skills from the Centre for Creative Leadership (USA). He was an invitee on a Govt. of India Committee formed to recommend measures to strengthen the Hostage Negotiation capability of the Indian Police.
