Shooting competition for IPS officers
The Academy organized "Shooting competitions for IPS officers" as part of Diamond Jubliee Celebrations. The competions was conducted from 15th - 17th April,2008. 26 Officers participated in the event. Different events such as Bonus shooting, Buffet shooting, Cocktail shooting were conducted. Shri Avinash Mohananey, Jt. Director, IB in Bonus shooting, Shri Maneesh Chaudhry, ASP, Panchakula in Buffet Shooting, and Shri Ramphal Panwar, DIG, SPG, New Delhi in Cocktail shooting stood in the 1st position.
Inauguration Diamond Jubilee Complex
The Diamond Jubilee Complex, for conducting Outdoor Training Activities, was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Shivraj V Patil. H.E. the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N D Tiwari presided over the function on 16th March,2008.

Hon’ble Union Home Minister, in his address appreciated the efforts being made by the Academy in the field of training. He further said that, the Government will extend all the necessary support to make the Academy a world class training institute.

The House was also addressed by the H.E. the Governor of A.P., Shri N D Tiwari. He Said that, the Academy must prepare these young leaders to face the gamut of challenges that the field today puts up.

The aesthetically brought up Diamond Jubilee Complex is a good value addition to our prestigious Academy. The total built up area of the building is 2900 sq. mtrs. It would, inter alia, house the following facilities: (a) Sand Model Room, (b) Lecture-cum-Demo Projection Room, (C) Interactive Fire Arms Training Simulator Room (IFATS), (d) Weapons’ Maintenance Room, (e) Endurance Training Hall, (f) Store Room (g) Drill Instructors’ Lounge (h) Office of Chief Drill Instructor (i) Office of Assistant Director (Outdoor).

This building has been constructed by the CPWD.

Conference of Women IPS Officers
As part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the SVP NPA, a Conference of Women IPS Officers is being held in the Academy on March 3 - 4, 2008, to exchange their field experiences on the theme "Emerging Challenges to Internal Security: Role of Women IPS Officers". 32 Women IPS officers of different ranks from across the country participated in the conference.

The Director of the academy Dr. G.S Rajagopal calling it an unique occasion and welcomed all the delegates to the conference.

The Conference was inaugurated by the Director, Intelligence Bureau (DIB), Shri P C Haldar, IPS. Shri P C Haldar in his address to the Conference stated that policing of the future should become gender neutral and women officer should lead the police force as captains. The universal expectation of the public from the police is that of good policing.

The Director, National Police Acaemy, Dr. G S Rajagopal mooted the proposal of holding such a Conference. The Programme Director is Smt. Anupam Saxena Singh of the 1995 Batch of UP Cadre, presently posted as Assistant Director (Indoor Studies) in the Academy.

Women Conference

"10K / Half Marathon Run"
The Academy is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee year, to mark 60 glorious years of excellence in imparting training to officers of the Indian Police Service. As a part of the ongoing events organized throughout the Diamond Jubilee year, the Academy organized a Half Marathon/ 10K Run" on Sunday, March 2, 2008.

This Event was organized to promote the consciousness for enhanced fitness which is an essential ingredient of the members of the police force in general and of the Academy in particular. The Academy lays great stress on endurance, stamina and speed, which are all requirements for a successful Marathon Runner. These qualities also enhance the overall personality of a police officer. The run also symbolized the ever onward march of the Academy towards excellence in police training.

The event included both a Half-marathon and a 10K run and was restricted to uniformed personnel of police organizations and school-children only.

The National Police Academy was a proud host to the athletes from various police organizations from the country such as West Bengal Police, Manipur Police, Andhra Pradesh Police, Special Protection Group (SPG), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Industrial Security Academy (CISF-NISA), Andhra Police Academy and specially the young athletes i.e. about 300 school children (under 16 years) from various schools in Hyderabad.

10K Run   10K Run
35 Years Reunion Seminar of 1973 batch
Reunion seminar of 1973 Batch IPS officers was conducted in the Academy on 28th and 29th Feb,2008. 19 officers attended the seminar. The theme of the seminar was, "Police as an Instrument of Social Change ". The Course was conducted by Sh. Santosh Macherla, IPS, Jt. Director of the Academy.


Seminar on National Security
A 6 day Seminar on National Security was conducted in the Academy from 18th - 23rd February, 2008. A total number of 29 officers have attended the course. The course was inaugurated by Shri Dr. P.S.V. Prasad, IPS (Retd.), and the valedictory address was delivered by : Smt. Chitkala Zutshi, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Government of Maharashtra. The objectives of the course were:
1. Increase awareness of the different dimensions and elements and that constitute National Security as well as threats to such security
2. To provide an opportunity for the participants to interact and exchange ideas.

Shri Dr. S. Darvesh Saheb, DD (S.Cs.), was the programme director.
Training of Trainers Course
Training of Trainers Course was conducted in the Academy from 9th Jan to 08th Feb, 2008. A total number of 26 officers have attended the course. The course was inaugurated by Shri M. Ratan, IPS Chairman, State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Hyderabad, and the valedictory address was delivered by Sh. Dr. G.S. Rajagopal, Director of the Academy. The Course was conducted by Sh. Prof. A.K. Saxena (TM).
